Fairtrade Steering Group

Description

The Lincoln Fairtrade steering group has achieved Fairtrade City status at the current time, subject to renewal.

To be a Fairtrade City five goals need to be achieved:

  • The local council passes a resolution supporting and promoting fairtrade
  • A range of at least four fairtrade products are readily available in the area’s shops and two products are available in local cafes / catering establishments
  • Fairtrade products are used by a number of local work places and community groups.
  • Media coverage and popular support is attracted for the campaign
  • A local fairtrade steering group is set up to ensure continued commitment to its Fairtrade City status

Lincoln Fairtrade steering group was formed early in 2012 and is chaired by City Councillor Chris Burke. Membership is made up of representatives from churches in Lincoln, local retailers, as well as the public sector and community groups. The steering group meet quarterly to discuss progress towards Fairtrade City status
