Declare a Climate Emergencey

We the undersigned petition the council to declare a Climate Emergency in the City Of Lincoln. We face a Climate Emergency, with a recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report quoting that we have less than 12 years in which to act or a chain of events will be triggered leading to irreversible climatic changes. The council needs to commit to become carbon neutral by 2030 and end all links to the fossil fuel industry.

A Climate Breakdown is the most accurate way to describe what is happening.
We, individually, cannot do enough to avoid this crisis or to safeguard the future of our children on this planet. We need the government, starting at local level, to follow through with the necessary resources and action to fully address the crisis at emergency speed.
This is in direct response to the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report ‘Global warming of 1.5°’ published on 8 October 2018.
