To consider the following recommendation from the meeting of the Council held on 3rd December 2024 to be proposed by Councillor Biff Bean and seconded by Councillor Neil Murray That the Council do resolve as follows:
(a) that the Mayor and Citizens of the City of Lincoln do confer the Honorary Freedom of the City upon Rob Bradley in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the City, by being instrumental in support of Lincoln City Football Club, having worked tirelessly to help keep the Club operating through turbulent times.
For taking a lead-role in establishing a Supporters’ Trust at Lincoln City, becoming the inaugural Chair of the Lincoln City membership Scheme and later, the Lincoln City Supporters’ Trust.
For saving the Club from administration and going on to making profits through his hard work, personal financial commitment, new initiatives and dedication.
By this, the most honourable distinction, which is its privilege to bestow, the Council can pay tribute to his outstanding achievements and to express the high esteem in which he is held.
(b) that an illuminated Scroll embodying the above-mentioned terms and sealed with the Common Seal of the Council be presented to the said Rob Bradley Minutes: The Mayor read out the following motion:
To consider the following recommendation from the meeting of Council on 3 December 2024, pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972.
That the Council do resolve as follows:
“That the Mayor and Citizens of the City of Lincoln do confer the Honorary Freedom of the City upon Robin Bradley in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the City, by being instrumental in support of Lincoln City Football Club, having worked tirelessly to help keep the Club operating through turbulent times.
“For taking a lead-role in establishing a Supporters’ Trust at Lincoln City, becoming the inaugural Chair of the Lincoln City membership Scheme and later, the Lincoln City Supporters’ Trust.
“For saving the Club from administration and going on to making profits through his hard work, personal financial commitment, new initiatives and dedication.
“By this, the most honourable distinction, which is its privilege to bestow, the Council can pay tribute to his outstanding achievements and to express the high esteem in which he is held.
“That an illuminated Scroll embodying the above-mentioned terms and sealed with the Common Seal of the Council be presented to the said Robin Bradley.”
Councillor Biff Bean proposed the motion that Robin Bradley, be admitted to the Honorary Freedom of the City in accordance with the resolution read by the Mayor.
The motion was seconded by Councillor Donald Nannestad.
The Mayor put the motion to the Council for resolution, which was carried unanimously.
RESOLVED that the granting of the Honorary Freedom of the City to Robin Bradley be approved.
The Roll of Honorary Freedom was signed by Robin Bradley.
The Mayor presented Robin Bradley with the Scroll admitting him to the Honorary Freedom of the City of Lincoln.
Robin Bradley responded by saying this was a very moving occasion. He stated that it was a great honour to receive the Honorary Freedom of the City of Lincoln. He was moved and gracious to receive the Freedom of the City of Lincoln. He thanked the Mayor, Councillor Biff Bean, Councillor Neil Murray, Councillor Donald Nannestad and all Councillors present for this very special recognition. |
